TASMANIAN HOLIDAY

A winter’s day sunlight shining down

Back in the hills snow is still upon the ground

The wind is gone blew itself back out to sea

Which gives me hope that spring will come here finally

A winter’s night

Where is the light

The wind is back

I fade to black

horizontal sleet and rain

promised for the break of spring angry storms assault my home shut my doors and stay alone

Why would I ever want to go away

Tasmanian holiday

All those years ago I came to stay

I raised my boys to grow up fine and true

Speak for themselves not hesitate to tell the truth

If I could search

for the shell that held the pearl

Right where I stand

No finer place in all the world

And I raised my voice ’cause there was madness in the air Holy ground betrayed river wounded forest bare

Trusted my crowd to see that fair was fair

That simple choice – I brought myself some trouble there
